Chimneys take more weather than any other part of the roof, exposed on every side and often the last thing anybody looks at. Once the mortar joints go, water gets into the stack, freezes, and the damage accelerates.

We repoint chimneys to reinforce the stack and keep water out, rebuild where the brickwork has gone too far, and renew the flaunching around the pots. Where a stack is redundant, we can remove it safely, take it down below roof level or in full, and make good the roof over the opening so it is weathertight and looks as though the chimney was never there.

Either way, the flashing at the base is renewed as part of the work, because that is where chimney problems usually show up inside.
